Spring Cleaning
While most of it can be done any time of year, a thorough spring cleaning is a great way to say 'good-bye winter,hello spring.
- Before washing, vacuum up loose dirt and cobwebs.
- Most painted surfaces can handle warm water or a mild solution of liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water.
- Start washing at the bottom and work your way up to avoid dirty water running down and leaving streaks.
- Before washing window panes, dust away loose dirt and cobwebs.
- Clean glass with store-bought cleaning solutions or mix your own (try i-part vinegar and 1- part hot water
- For window screens, wash with warm water and mild dishwashing liquid, scrub with a brush and rinse well. Window coverings
- Launder your machine- washable draperies (check labels first).
- Dry clean fabric shades.
- Wipe down wood, metal and vinyl blinds.
- Shampoo your carpets and rugs.
- Polish the hardwood
- Scrub and polish other floors
- Strip and re wax vinyl or linoleum flooring.
- Steam clean upholstery. Vacuum out your vents.
- Take down light fixtures and clean them.
- Wash out the trash cans
- Move furniture and clean the areas behind and underneath it.
- Remove books and knick-knacks and clean shelves thoroughly.
- Re-seal grout.
- Clean and organize closets storage areas and the attic.
- Donate unused items to charity and safely discard medications and cosmetics.
